Wolverhampton League Team

Since the mid 80's when Richard Thompson took over as captain this has been a Telford Chess Club and guests team and has boasted most of the counties top players in its number. In fact in one season the team had the top six boards in the county and still didn't win the league.

The current team is Nick Rutter, Thomas Pym, Dave Gostelow, John Footner, Colin Roberts and Richard Thompson. Last season Jamie Hopkins played some of the games. In previous years the team has included Trevor Brotherton, Andrew Footner, Richard Archer & Carl Portman.

The team has had mixed results despite always being one of the strongest teams in the league. It has won the Pittaway Cup (the league cup), the summer league and the league itself Full details will be added when I get the required information.
